Las Olas Isles was dredged in 1920, three years after the completion of Las Olas Boulevard. The dredging was part of Florida’s land boom between 1920 and 1926, which saw Fort Lauderdale grow by leaps and bounds until the September 1926 Miami hurricane, 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane, and the Great Depression all brought the first boom to a close.
