Imperial Point Neighborhood

Imperial Point was one of the first developments in the United States to experience full electrification, with every new home equipped with the latest and greatest from General Electric. Mean commuting time is 23.1 minutes, 3.6 minutes shorter than Florida’s average mean, and 3.2 minutes shorter than the national average mean. Those who prefer commuting to and from work by bus are well-served by Broward County Transit, with three routes running along or through Imperial Point

Imperial Point is minutes away from the white sands near the Atlantic Ocean, and is generally bounded by US 1 to the east, NE 18th Avenue to the west, NE 56th Street to the south, and a northern boundary half a block south of E McNabb Road. Imperial Point also has access to the Intracoastal Waterway via docks located in the northwest corner of the development, north of NE 63rd Street. US 1 runs north to south, connecting residents to Hollywood, Miami, and the Florida Keys to the south, and West Palm Beach, Daytona Beach, and Jacksonville to the north

Imperial Point is home to Dottie Mancini Park. Formerly known as Imperial Point Park, the small park near the corner of NE 66th Street and NE 22nd Avenue was renamed in 2014 in honor of Dorothy “Dottie” Mancini, the former CEO of nearby Imperial Point Medical Group

Several events occur throughout the year in Imperial Point, most if not all held at Dottie Mancini Park. The Spring Fling takes place around Easter, where over 4,000 eggs hidden throughout the park await the little ones eager to fill their baskets. Those with pets will enjoy the Pet Parade, held on the grounds of Imperial Point Medical Group, while Winter in the Park -- held on a “cool” evening in December, according to the Imperial Point Civic Association -- illuminates the night with the warmth and joy of the season. Finally, the Fall Harvest Picnic in October brings the residents and friends of Imperial Point together to welcome cooler temps with pony rides, live entertainment, food, and more; the picnic was also featured on PBS Newshour when Jim Lehrer was at the helm, as the event attracted a few candidates campaigning on the national stage during an election year.
