Uber Leaves Broward County, Florida

photo of uber appThe ever popular Uber sharing a ride service has announced it will be no longer offer pick-up service to customers in Broward County and will be suspending service after July 31st. The decision was due to stifling regulations imposed on Uber by the Broward County Commissioners. The company has advised it's customer base that regulations were too onerous to continue operating the pick-up service in Broward County; however, riders picked up outside the county can still be dropped off within the county lines.

The decision by county commissioners to impose one of the most burdensome ride sharing restrictions in the country; requiring drivers to carry a state required insurance, undergo a county background check and obtain a county chauffeur registration proved to be too onerous and led to the decision by Uber to pull out of Broward County until such time that the restrictions are revisited to a favorable outcome and Uber can re-instate operations. More on this here
