Fort Lauderdale Weekly Market Update
During the last 2 weeks, more and more businesses begin to re-open following the CDC social distancing guidelines. Many restaurants have opened for inside dining operating at nor more than 50% occupancy. The malls are open with more and more retailers opening including anchor stores like Apple with limiting the number of shoppers inside the stores at one time. The beaches have re-opened for swimming, jogging and running, however, until now, sitting and sunbathing was not allowed.
According to the Florida Department of Health, as of May 29, 2020 at 6:30 p.m., results from tests administered in Broward County indicated 96,294 negative results; 6,975 positive results; 42 inconclusive results; and 24 pending results. See the latest data from the FDOH
Beginning Monday, June 1 activities including picnicking, sunbathing, sitting and lying on the beach will be allowed, and beachgoers will also be permitted to use umbrellas, canopies, chairs, loungers, and coolers. Group gatherings are limited to 10 people and facial coverings must be worn when social distancing of 6 feet between persons (other than members of the same household or group) cannot be maintained.

We saw an increase in Closed Sales the last 2 weeks. However, this could still be properties that went under contract before the shutdown. Pending Sales are decreasing and Cancelled/Expired listings have increased. More and more new properties are coming on the market as well (New Listings).
