Fort Lauderdale Weekly Market Update

As Florida continues to re-open, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has given the approval for Florida to begin with Phase 2 with the exception of Broward and Dade Counties. These 2 counties are a week or so behind the rest of Florida.

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, beaches; commercial gyms and fitness centers, including dance, martial arts, yoga, spinning and personal training studios; and hotels, motels and commercial lodging establishments may reopen in Broward County. All businesses will have to continue to operate by following strict health, hours of operation, safety guidelines as well as maintain social distancing requirements.

According to the Florida Department of Health, as of May 21, 2020 at 6:30 p.m., results from tests administered in Broward County indicated 83,235 negative results; 6,580 positive results; 46 inconclusive results; and 21 pending results.

The City of Fort Lauderdale is allowing residential and commercial real estate services to resume operations. The decision comes based on a newly released and updated Advisory Memorandum from the Department of Homeland Security on Identification of Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers During COVID-19 Response, as well as Broward County’s Emergency Order 20-12.

Here are the latest numbers

As compared to last week, New Listings added to the real estate market increased, while Closed Sales remained the same. New Pending Sales (Under Contract) increased while Cancelled/Expired Listings also increased.

As we continue to open, and folks begin to feel more comfortable, I suspect more homeowners who have been sitting on the sidelines, will begin to list their properties while still observing safety guidelines.
