35th Annual Las Olas Art Fair – Part II
When: March 4th – 5th 10am – 5pm
Where: 620 E Las Olas Blvd Fort Lauderdale

Experience the magic of the Las Olas Art Fair, a beloved annual tradition in South Florida that brings together a diverse mix of longtime favorites and fresh new talent in the contemporary art scene. Held over two days from 10 am to 5 pm, the iconic festival is the perfect chance to indulge in a wonderful day out, window-shop or dine at one of the fabulous sidewalk cafes on Las Olas Boulevard. With a wide range of art galleries, eclectic boutiques, and dining options, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Come and experience the beauty at Las Olas Art Fair, and discover the stunning works of art that will captivate and inspire you.

On Saturday, March 4, Join Richard A. Bell, CBNA Commissioner for the 12 noon Welcome & Parade of Clans and Massed Bands. Spend the rest of your day to the skirl or the pipes and the tattoo of the drums, marveling at the Scottish Heavy Athletics, Sheep Dog Herding Demos, Pipe, Drum & Pipe Band Competitions, Highland Dancing Demos, Weaving demonstration, Scottish Country Dancing, and learn from the Realms of History Medieval Encampment with Armed Combat Demos: 11:30 am ; 3:30 pm. Refresh yourself with Scottish Food and Drink, and shop for Crafts. Let the kids participate in Scottish themed at the fun Children’s Games area where kids and their families may pick up a blank Children’s Game Passport for a game that learn about the different families of Scotland. There will also be Celtic Rock & Traditional Music. When you need a place to rest your feet, set a spell with Richard at the CBNA tent.


Doggie Basics
When: Six Week Course March 5th – April 23rd
Where: Good Karma Pet Adoption

Come out for a 6-week basic dog obedience course with trainer, Ariana! This will cover the beginning of dog training using positive reinforcement, with the end goal of understanding the basics to help your doggy be the goodest boy (or girl) they can be!
Donation for the 6-week course is $80, or a name-your-own donation for anyone receiving any type of government assistance.
Class will be held at the Good Karma Pet Adoption Center in Pompano Beach. They will be from 10-11 a.m. each Sunday, starting on March 5th (March 5, 12, 19 & April 2, 16, 23) *No class on Sunday, 3/26 or 4/9*
A quick 15min ‘meet the trainer’ zoom video chat will be held on Thursday March 2nd @ 6:30pm.
You MUST register online, and registration is limited to 8 owners/dogs on a first-come basis.

****Dogs must be 4+ months old & up-to-date on distemper/parvo and rabies vaccines***– If you would like to participate but your pet is not up to date, we can direct you to some affordable options.

Exotic Plant Festival
When: March 4th 9:30AM – March 5th 4:30PM
Where: Flamingo Gardens

 

Flamingo Gardens’ annual tropical plant event features a bonsai show presented by the Broward Bonsai Society, plant and landscape vendors with rare and exotic plants, gardening supplies, garden art and accessories, and multicultural food and entertainment.
This year’s festival is also the opening weekend of “Pollination Investigation,” a Smithsonian traveling exhibit with metal sculptures by local artist Jorge Lopez throughout the Arboretum. Explore the world of pollinators including butterflies, hummingbirds, flies, moths, beetles, wind, bees, and bats and the plants that attract and feed them. Don’t miss Flamingo Garden’s new Butterfly Conservatory opening on March 4th!
Kids’ Corner crafts from 11am to 3pm, food trucks/vendors with fare representing different continents and cuisines, and musical performances include Ronin Taiko Japanese Drumming and Treebo Band.
Admission is $21.95 for ages 12+,
$15.95 for ages 3-11, Flamingo Gardens members and children 2 or younger are admitted free.

Tri-Rail Fun Day

When: Saturday March 4th 11:00AM – 3:00PM

Where: Fort Lauderdale Airport Tri-Rail

Free family fun is back on-track at Tri-Rail’s rescheduled “Rail Fun Day” on Saturday, March 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport Station at Dania Beach (500 Gulf Stream Way). Attendees to the annual event will enjoy live entertainment, arts and crafts, interactive games, cookie decorating, photos with Tri-Rail’s mascot Conductor George Green and popular costume characters, face painting, giveaways, food trucks and the “South Florida’s Kids Got Talent” singing competition.
Event goers are encouraged to ride the train to the event with round-trip fares just $5 (kids 12 and under ride free this day only). Plus, the first 200 ticketed riders to visit the Tri-Rail booth and present a valid Tri-Rail ticket dated March 4, 2023 will receive a special gift!

Sunday Jazz Brunch

Welcome to our 12th year of this exciting, free monthly event. My cohosts, Bob Green, Caryn Pomeranz, Hugh Smith, Tremie Rob, and I look forward to seeing everyone.
We’ll be there early to get our VIP front-row spot right in front of the Connie Hoffman gazebo.
You can get here early for VIP seats under the Picardi Ranch Party Station tent for great live music.
It’s going to be a jammin’ day with good friends, fine music, and fantastic weather. Join us.

RAIN or SHINE! Look for the Spearhead Multimedia banner. We arrive early to get our spot. We are in the VIP section in front of the Connie Hoffman Gazebo at the end of SW 3rd (Nugent) Avenue. You can stop at the circle, unload your chairs, snacks, and beverages, and then park. It’s always a great time. Please look for the light grey tent close to the big clock. Everyone is welcome, so bring your well-behaved kids, friendly dogs, and friends.
